Arbind Prasad – Director General

Dr Arbind Prasad is Director General, FICCI.

Dr Prasad has over 30 years of experience as an IAS officer (1980 Batch). Prior to joining FICCI, he was Senior Adviser (Power & Energy) and State Adviser for Odisha and West Bengal in Planning Commission. Arbind Prasad was on the Board of Director of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL), and Bhartiya Vidyut Nigam (Bhavini). He has also served as Joint Secretary (Social Defense) in Government of India where he was responsible for implementation of various programs and formulations of policies relating to Social Defense, work relating to Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Sub-Group of Narmada Control Authority, implementation of the Central Sector Scheme of Special Central Assistance, etc.

Before joining Government of India, Dr. Arbind Prasad had held senior administrative positions in Government of Bihar. In addition to various other assignments, he also worked as Secretary, Department of Energy, Secretary, Department of Institutional Finance and Program Implementation in the State Government, and Director L.N. Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change.

Arbind is a B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, and Masters and Ph.D. in Management from Yale University, USA. He was adjudged to be the best outgoing student of Electrical Engineering and awarded Gold Medal by IIT, Kanpur. Arbind Prasad has also been a recipient of Yale University Fellowship throughout his study at Yale University.
